Adventurous Tour On The Rivers Tiguino – Cononaco – Yasuní – Napo – Huaorani Territory –Yasuní National Park (15 Days And 14 Nights)
Suggested Itinerary
To drive and row in the middle of the most untouched and dense rainforest in Ecuador on the rivers Tiguino, Cononaco and Yasuní; to hike several days trough the forest and to let explain from the guides the flora and fauna; in the tents to listen to the nightly noises in the forest; in the remote Huaorani – village to learn about the ancient and traditional culture; this is our adventurous tour in to the Huaorani – Territory and Yasuní National Park.
1.Day.- Reception by our staff in the city of Coca (Francisco de Orellana), ride by bus to the Huaorani-village Tiguino, situated in the Pastaza Province, Lunch, navigation downstream in canoe by motor on the Tiguino river. On the way we have the opportunity to see many different birds, as sometimes parrots, toucans and also monkeys. In the camp the guide explains the program of the next days, Welcome cocktail and Dinner.
2. Day.- After the breakfast we navigate the river Tiguino downstream to its mouth with the river Cononaco and we follow it until we arrive at the Huaorani village of Bameno. It takes at least seven hours to get there and on the way we have lunch on a sandy beach. About 10 minutes more river down we camp next to a little lodge and have dinner.
3. Day.- In the morning we accompany several Huaorani in to the forest for a longer walk. They show us how they use the different plants to build their houses and their weapons and their use as medicine plants. Also exists the option to join them on a traditional hunt with their blowgun and with curare poisoned darts. In the afternoon we visit a hidden lagoon for sport fishing. Return to the camp and dinner.
4. Day.- After the breakfast we visit the whole village and learn about their culture and way of life. The Huaorani are only for a few decades in contact with our civilization and dry to hold on to their traditions but couldn’t stop all the inventions and problems of our culture and the oil companies. After the lunch we prepare the tour for the next days.
5.–9.Day.- We start our expedition, accompanied of the Huaorani guides and porters who will teach all the knowledge of the rainforest. Every night we camp in the forest until we arrive on the river Yasuní where we will find the row boats the Huaorani of the village Garzacocha left us there.
10.–11. Day.- We follow the Yasuní down river in the row boats until we arrive in the Huaorani village of Garzacocha (Kawimeno) where our motorboat is awaiting us. On the way we camp on a sandy beach.
12. Day.- We drive down the river Yasuní until its influx to the bigger river Napo, on the border to Peru. On the way we visit the big oxbow lake Jatuncocha. We follow the Napo up river until we get to the village of Nuevo Rocafuerte.
14.–15. Day.- We drive the river Napo up until we get back to Coca. During the travel we visit a Quichua village, the beautiful Laguna of Pañacocha and the archaeology museum of Pompeya.
NOTE: Each one has to carry his own equipment.
Included: 1 night in the Camp Bataburo, 7 nights in tents and 6 nights of adventure.
