Urcu Puyujunda corresponds to the mountain range of the Choco Andean. The area has one of the richest biodiversity of birds in the world. In addition there are natural and archaeological remains all over on these lands as "Piscinas del Inca" located in Tulipe town close to the cabins.

The Yumbos culture was thriving here between XIII and XVI centuries. The Yumbos had trading network which reached from the Sierra to the Coast. Other archaeological discoveries exist around this hospitable lodge that have neither been studied, nor excavated.

ACCOMMODATION

Our new and clean camp has six cabins, one restaurant and reading room. The cabins are in the middle of the forest and constructed with traditional material typical of the region with the purpose of maintaining a balance of the environment. These are comfortably equipped with a private bathroom to satisfy the visitors demands. Each cabin can lodge up to 6 visitors. There are no mosquitoes.

The restaurant offers a variety of typical Ecuadorian and international plates, and we are proud of our excellent chef. The bar and reading room, with its rustic environment, invites the tourist to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.

FLORA

There are many endemic species that belongs to the Cloud Forest as:

Epiphytes like heliconia, orchids, bromeliads, and moss (used in pesebre at Christmas). Helechos, liquenes, variety of ferns, Palms, Sangre de Drago, Cinnamon tree, Arrayan, Matache, Guayabillo, Palche Jigua, Aguacatillo, Walnut, Alders, Cedar, Guarumo, Linden, herbaceous plants: chilca, manzano, guaba, blackberry, cherry, among others.

FAUNA

The Forest has representative species as:

Armadillo, deer, puerco sahino, cuy de monte, skunk, squirrel, guatusa, guanta, tigrillo, lion, reptiles: snakes, variety of birds such as sparrow hawk, hummingbirds, cock of the rock, varied of insects, butterflies and spiders, amphibians: different species of frogs; crustaceans: crab, snails; etc.

As ecological cabins are worry about environment and its enthrone, for that reason we have traced ourselves important projects, non for our benefit just for community benefit, to better lifes conditions of Las tolas town (bordering to the cabins).

Among the projects that we running are:

Environmental education program.
Elaboration of integral farms for community benefit.
Reforestation and conservation of Cloud Forest.
Biological and archaeological researches.

The volunteers of the project can benefit experiencing a culture and different ecosystems, learning and improving the Spanish language.
