There are many sustainable travel programs available in Ecuador, there are many opportunities to share experiences and help local community tourism projects. We have created a database of travel programs that are support local community efforts and offer post trip volunteership opportunities.

Community stay sharing time with an indigenous family, 2 or more days
A once in a lifetime experience, you will have the opportunity to stay at one of our community lodges and spend time with an indigenous family. You will be invited to participate in their everyday activities, helping take care of livestock or farming the fields. We offer you the opportunity to experience in depth the indigenous side of Ecuador.
Agro and Rural Tourism cultural tour 19 days
A true cultural immersion into the heart of Ecuador, you will cross the Andes and learn about the diferent indigenous groups, their agricultural practices, their culture and their relationship with their environment. This tour includes university lectures, visits to community projects, indigenous markets and unique Andean landscapes.
Rio Muchacho Organic Farm and coastal lifestyle tour 3 days : You will be guided in Rio Muchacho by the native guide and his family.
Accommodation is in a cabin by the stream or in one of the other creatively built sleeping areas. The best of typical food is prepared from the harvest and cooked over an open fire.
Choco coastal rainforest and andes adventure, community and jungle tour experience, 6 days :
Our primary area of operation, the tropical Ecuadorian Chocó of Esmeraldas, is known as a World Biodiversity Hotspot. Home to countless endangered and endemic species, it is one of the last coastal rainforests of its kind. At the same time, it is home to two distinct traditional cultures, Afro-Ecuadorian and Chachi. We also visit the Otavalo indigenous people and even spend some time at the home of an indigenous family.
Choco rainforest natural history tour, 4 days :
Our primary area of operation, the tropical Ecuadorian Chocó of Esmeraldas, is known as a World Biodiversity Hotspot. Home to countless endangered and endemic species, it is one of the last coastal rainforests of its kind. At the same time, it is home to two distinct traditional cultures, Afro-Ecuadorian and Chachi.
Kapawi jungle lodge - Ecuador Achuar sanctuary 4 days : Kapawi Lodge is located in the most remote area of the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin. Upon flying in from Quito to Wayusentsa, you take a 90 minute motorized canoe ride to the jungle lodge, from which you will discover the abundant wildlife and rich culture of the local Achuar Indians.
Kapawi jungle lodge - Amazon Achuar project 5 days : The Kapawi Project began in 1993 with its main goal was to provide economic sustainability and jobs for the Achuar Indians in the region.
With a local guide you choose a program designed to meet your interests and physical ability. Activities include hiking, bird watching, kayaking & canoe trips, fishing, camping, Achuar Community visits, caiman watching and night hikes.
Sani lodge community experience 4 days : REMOTELY PERCHED ON AN OXBOW LAKE in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle, Sani Lodge awaits you.... Deep within the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle you will find a mysterious lake called Challuacocha, where floating water hyacinths and grasses obscure the shores...
Sani lodge community experience 5 days : Same as above with an extra day at the community to learn more about the Amazon and its people.
Gareno Amazon lodge huaroni culture and rainforest wilderness 4 days : In september 2000 the travel agency "Guaponi" and a Quichua family signed a contract with the federation of the Huaoranis (ONHAE) to build the Lodge in their territory. It is a community project, to build up a good working community with medical assistance and education. As our guests in the Lodge, you will be giving direct help to the Huaorani community of Gareno, since half of the entrance fee directly to the federation, benefiting all Huaoranis.
