This 4 day ecotour combines the best of Bahia´s natural attractions and ecocity projects in four full days of interesting visits. These include;
The organic shrimp farm
Encarnación agroecology site
Isla Corazón

Rio Muchacho Organic Farm
Rio Muchacho Community Environmental School
Ecopaper ( paper recycling project )

To reach Bahia you may arrive overland from Quito or Guayaquil or by plane (1/2 hour flight).
Day 1 Bahia de Caraquez
Ecocity tour, lookout points, ecomarket,
and Miguelito the Galapagos Turtle (90 year old resident of Bahia).
Tricycle tour of the water front.
Lunch in Bahía or in the community of Porto Velo
Isla Corazón ( community tourism project ) Mangroves, board walk, video, mystical canoe ride beneath the mangroves to see the bird colonies. (The timing of this tour time is subject to the tides )
Dinner and night at Hotel - Bahia
Day 2 Bahia de Caraquez
Breakfast in Hotel
Visit organic shrimp farm, tour of the farm and bird watching en route
Tasty meal of shrimp on the farm
Visit ecopaper workshop, see the craftswomen decorating and creating 80 different products with recycled paper.
( this project was created to provide alternative employment to families who lost the livelihood from the mangrove forest during the shrimp farming boom. )
Visit town composting site
Dinner in Columbios - great grills and sea food, night in Bahia
Day 3 Bahia - Rio Muchacho
Walk in Tropical Dry Forest , excellent views of Bahia
Lunch in Bahia
Trip to Rio Muchacho Organic farm, via Canoa.
Tour around farm to see tropical crops, permaculture etc.
Dinner and camp fire
Night in Rio Muchacho.
Day 4 Rio Muchacho - Bahia - home
Typical breakfast
Activities e.g. chocolate making- from the bean to the cup ! cheese making
carving South American vegetable ivory / gourds etc.
Lunch
fishing river shrimp, clay face mask, visit Community Environmental school,
Depart from Rio Muchacho
Return to Bahía and farewell.
