Ecuador adventure mountain climbing tours
The Ecuadorian Andes are a climbers mecca. The vast array of snow-capped peaks has something to offer climbers of all abilities, from first timers to experienced technical mountaineers.
The Andes of Ecuador have marvelled many explorers, from Simon Bolivar the libertador who had to climb Chimborazo mountain with his troops to Edward Whimper and Alexander Von Humboldt who reached the peaks of Chimborazo and Cotopaxi respectively. This last explorer named the Ecuadorian mountain corridor as "The Avenue of the Volcanoes".
Summit climbs can be both technical and non technical with various levels of dificulty.
Acclimatisation Peaks: These peaks are non-technical and are suitable for acclimatizing on prior to tackling one of Ecuador's big volcanoes. We recommend several days in Quito and at least two peaks before doing our mountaineering course or attempting peaks over 5,000m.

Ecuador's big volcanoes: Cotopaxi 5897m is Ecuador's second-highest peak and one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, Cayambe 5789m is the highest and coldest point on the equator, Chimborazo 6310m is Ecuador's highest peak, Antisana 5758m is big, high and covered in crevasses, Illinizas Sur 5263m This peak is a technical climb.
Ecuador mountaneering course, 4 days : For beginners we offer a 3 day mountaineering course, followed by guided ascents of suitable peaks. The course can be done on either Cotopaxi or Cayambe. Following the course if you are adequately acclimatised you may like to climb Cotopaxi, Cayambe or Chimborazo. This can be done directly after the course or after returning briefly to Quito.
High Andes of Ecuador mountain tour, 15 days : This adventure trekking and mountaineering tour encompasses some of Ecuador's most stunning high altitude scenery. The climb of conical, snow-capped Cotopaxi is our main goal on this active tour through the Ecuadorian highlands.
Climb in Ecuador mountain tour, 12 days : Climb a trio of Ecuador’s volcanoes: The coldest and highest point on the equator, Chimborazo; the near perfect snow-capped active volcanic cone of Cotopaxi and Cayambe. Cayambe (5789m) is the only place on earth where the latitude is zero degrees and so is the temperature. Cotopaxi is Ecuador's second-highest peak and one of the highest active volcanoes in the world at 5897m. Chimborazo dominates at 6310m. Measured from the centre of the earth it is the highest mountain in the world.
Chimborazo mountaneering ascent, 2 days : Although Chimborazo is climbed year around there are some months which have better climbing conditions. November trough May tend to be the best months in terms of climbing weather. The climate in the vicinity of Chimborazo is never completely predictable and at any time of year a quick deterioration of the weather can delay a climb for a day or two.
Cotopaxi mountaneering summit ascent, 2 days : This active volcano is the second highest and the most popular climb in Ecuador. Normally, we expect good mountain weather year around and thus climbs are attempted almost every day.
Climbing Expeditions - Ilinizas Norte and Cayambe, 10 days : The snow covered Volcan Cayambe, which has the distinction of being both the highest and the coldest point on the Equator. At 5,789 meters or 18,993 feet, Nevado Cayambe is the highest point on the Earth's equator and an active volcano. The first three days of the expedition are spent acclimating and enjoying Quito and the surrounding area. Next, we journey to Ilinizas Norte (5,126 meters or 16,817 feet) and spend the next three days continuing our acclimatization while we summit this peak. Finally, the expedition travels overland to Cayambe where the next two or three days are spent ascending this beautiful volcano.
Climbing expeditions - Ilinizas Norte and Cotopaxi, 10 days : At 5,897 meters or 19,347 feet, Nevado Cotopaxi is considered one of the most beautiful peaks in the world. In the local Quechua dialect, the volcano's name is translated as "Mountain of Moonlight". A snow-capped and glacier clad composite volcano, Cotopaxi is justifiably one of the most popular mountains in the Andes of South America.
Climbing Expeditions - Ilinizas Norte and Chimborazo, 11 days : At 6,310 meters or 20,702 feet, Nevado Chimborazo is Ecuador's highest peak and a notable achievement for any aspiring mountaineer. First climbed in 1880 by the ubiquitous Brit Edward Whymper, who was accompanied by Italy's Jean Antonine and Louis Carrel, Chimborazo is a massive glaciated peak residing near the southern terminus of the Valley of Volcanoes.
Climbing expeditions - Cotopaxi and Chimborazo, 13 days : A combination of two of the most coveted peaks in Ecuador, this climbing expedition offers a perfect blend of culture, acclimatization and adventure. After spending three days in and around the colorful culturally rich capital city of Quito, this expedition begins with an acclimatization climb of Ilinizas Norte at 5,126 meters or 16,817 feet. The expedition continues with summits of Cotopaxi at 5,897 meters or 19,347 feet and Chimborazo at 6,310 meters or 20,702 feet. Expedition members will find the itinerary as interesting as it is challenging

This climbing expedition traverses the Valley of Volcanoes from north to south beginning with Cayambe at 5,789 meters or 18,993 feet, followed by Cotopaxi at 5,897 meters or 19,347 feet and Chimborazo at 6,310 meters or 20,702 feet. Expedition members are given the opportunity to experience the cultural diversity and rich flora and fauna of Ecuador, while experiencing some of the best high altitude mountaineering to be found anywhere in South America!
