Day 1
Ecuador trip Otavalo indian market - Quito - Calderon - Cayambe - hacienda Guachala
We depart from your hotel in Quito and head north. Our first visit is at the village of Calderon famous for its bread dough figures, we continue to the middle of the world monument located on the panamerican highway, on a clear day we can devise the Cayambe volcano which is crossed by the equator line at its summit. Our next stop is at the town of Cayambe, here we will try the local delicacy "bizcochos and queso de hoja" biscuits and leaf cheese. At midday we will check in at hacienda Guachala or similar, we will enjoy a delicious lunch, and later choose between hiking the hacienda grounds or horseback riding in the surrounding highlands; it is also possible to relax by the pool and enjoy the stress free environment of the highlands.

Day 2
Ecuador trip Otavalo indian market - hacienda Guachala - Miralago - Otavalo indian market - Peguche artisan town - Quito
We head out from our hacienda after breakfast, our first stop will be at Miralago a scenic lookout point from where we will have a great view of the Imbabura volcano and San Pablo lake, here we will listen to local legends and myths. We will then continue north and visit the famous Otavalo indian market the most important indigenous gathering in South America, we will spend some time bartering and trading for ponchos, wall hangings, wool hats and other artisan crafts from the surrounding villages. Lunch is optional at a local restaurant by the market square. Our final visit of the day will be to the town of Peguche where we will go to a local weaving loom and learn the processing of wool into yarn and making of sweaters and tapestries. We will also visit a local musician shop where they make there own instruments, a demonstration is included. We return to Quito and transer to our hotel of choice.
