This Hike can also be made the opposite way, which makes it mostly downhill and ends at Termas de Papallacta, an amazingly beautiful hot spring resort.
Day 1: Quito - Papallacta - Campsite 1
Depart from Quito in private transportation for the Tambo area of Papallacta (2 hours). The Condor trek starts with a hike across Paramo grass and Andean flowers and ends with our arrival at a volcano lake around 4 or 5 PM for camping, resting and dinner. (4 hour hike with a final elevation of 10,900ft.)
Day 2: Campsite 1 - Santa Lucia lake campsite
Early breakfast and then begin the day¹s trek toward the Santa Lucia River. This hike takes you across the Paramo, which is an excellent place to see Andean Eagles and Condors. Arrive at the Santa Lucia Lake around 4 or 5 PM where we will make camp for the night (7 hour hike with a final elevation of 12,730ft.).
Day 3: Santa Lucia lake - Antisana glacier lake
From our campsite we hike towards the great glaciers of Antisana. Once we get to the snowline we can walk on the glacier or just follow the snowline up to a big glacier lake.
Day 4: Antisana glacier lake - Quito
Wake up at our beautiful campsite and enjoy a great breakfast. We will then break camp and a short hike brings us to our meeting point with our private transportation. Head back to Quito.
